  2. WOW! Eddie how wonderful to hear Clement’s Voice and to hear him speak about this work. I remember performing this for Queen Elizabeth – such good times. Ah! my musical mentor…i miss him still. Thanks so much for this. It’s made my day!

Thanks so much for this, Eddie! This was a joy to listen to on so many levels. Just imagine – your Dad was probably still in his 20s when all of this was happening.

    There is SUCH a void….

I am happy that we eventually became friends.

    Eddie,
What a wonderful sound! I never thought I would hear Clement’s voice and feel his presence again and hear him playing again! He left us on my birthday August 24, and I have never forgotten! I miss him so much. I will never forget he taught us the “Belinda oh” chorus just 10 minutes before we were to go on state, in the music room at the Dundas! Memories! Thanks a million, Eddie. I will treasure this.

Thank you Eddie. I remember the wonderful time with the Folklore Group in Mexico in 1968, the subsequent summer productions at the then GHS auditorium and other performances of this wonderful work by your Father. I can hear his happy laughter now. Great memories!

  6. Time gives us the space far enough from our friends and family to realize the value of their genius that we learn to expect and often take for granted. Hearing the brilliance of Clement’s “voice” makes us grateful for the time we spent with his unpretentious sense of humour, humility and generousity. Clement’s works teach us on so many levels how to straddle all facets of ourselves, on the hill top, over the hill, on the island, in town; how to love our Bahamas, ourselves and express that love with passion.
    Thanks for the memories.

    Hi Eddie

What a treat! This master piece has a very special place in my life as an actor. I shall never forget the night Clement made the decision that I was talented enough and should perform the role of the Devil in the special performance for Her Majesty The Queen, on the occasion of CHOGM 1985…. ( with Winston sitting next to him shaking his head in agreement and THREE days to learn the choreography) The drive home was the longest I ever had. I had to stop to THE BAR on the way home! Of all the honours I have enjoyed in my relatively short life, this is by far, the greatest. It’s time to bring it back and dis time I wan’ snatch dah part from Cleveland ….. yes, the role of Sammy Swain himself. In fack, I wan’ play the Debil and Sammy ….. in 2D as it were. T’will be a work in progress …. Talk Dat!!! LOLLOLLOL

    Thanks for sharing
