 lbjLorraine Bastian Jones, MBA, JP

Lorraine Bastian Jones is the Director of the Professional Development & The Career Institute at The College of The Bahamas, Centre for Continuing Education & Extension Services. Lorraine is a proponent of servant leadership; and one of the ways Lorraine demonstrates her commitment to servant leadership is by serving as an adjunct Lecturer with The College’s Centre for Continuing Education & Extension Services. She believes that when the philosophy of ‘servant leadership is converted to practice, the lives of individuals are enriched and organizations are improved.

A prolific course writer, Lorraine is noted for her contribution to the development of professional certification standards and career consulting. In compliance with the requirements advanced to member countries through the United Nations’ Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), along with the Ministry of Social Services and Community Development, Lorraine has co-authored ‘Leadership for Women in Politics.’ This course will serve as the springboard to provide women with the necessary knowledge and skills to become effect political leaders.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University, Alabama; and has achieved several professional Certifications: Training and Development Specialist, Professional Manager and International Project Manager.

Lorraine enjoys life in The Bahamas with husband, Rev. Floyd E. Jones and children, Reyo and Lamysha.

Eugene_PoitierMr. Eugene Poitier

Mr. Poitier serves as Deputy Permanent Secretary with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Nassau, The Bahamas. He graduated from the University of The West Indies with a BSc Degree in Management Studies. Post graduate studies include a Master of Science Degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from the London School of Economics of the University of London, U.K., and a Post Graduate Certificate from Peking University, Beijing, China.

Mr. Poitier has extensive experience in public sector leadership, and has done transformative work in human resource development. His teachings in transformational leadership continues to impact change and innovation in performance management.

 

EdwardBethelDr. Edward Bethel

Dr. Edward Bethel is the Director of Distance Education at The College of The Bahamas. Dr. Bethel recently completed his doctorate in Education Technology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, during which time his areas of specialization and research were: technology integration in education, distance education, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), cognition and multimedia learning, e-learning, human performance technology and research synthesis. Dr. Bethel has authored and co-authored several articles and conference presentations in the areas of distance education and technology-enhanced learning. Most recently, in June, 2015 Dr. Bethel gave the presentation, “Effective Pathways to Quality Education: ICT for Education,” at the 19th Commonwealth Conference of Educational Ministers and the presentation “ICT4ED – A solution in search of a Problem? 5 Challenges of E-Learning,” at the 10th International Conference of E-Learning.”

A career educator, Dr. Bethel has spent his entire twenty-five year career in education at the secondary and tertiary level both as an administrator and as an instructor, in face to face and online learning settings. He is committed to the principle of universal access to quality education and training.

 

Sidney CollieMr. Cedric A. Collie

With more than 20 years entrepreneurial experience, Mr. Collie serves as President of CAC Management Ltd, a business consulting firm. In addition to his academic qualifications, Cedric has more than 20 years’ experience as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Financial Planner; 30 years in leadership and teaching at the post graduate levels. He is the founder and CEO of CAC Management Ltd, a business consulting firm.

Mr. Collie has a wealth of leadership experience in the public and private sectors such as international work experience with Arthur Andersen in California; and lead posts in various government ministries and agencies. Since the past 12 years to present, he serves as a lead Instructor for the Becker CPA Review Course here at the College of The Bahamas. Cedric developed a ‘must-have’ guide for passing exams. He is the author of “Pain Killers for Passing Exams.”
