About

What is the secret to excellent leadership in the public service? Will we in The Bahamas ever enjoy the kind of dynamic, transformational and participatory leadership needed to ensure efficient delivery of public goods? Or are we destined to the stagnancy of government bureaucracy which at best promotes a style of leadership that emphasizes procedures and traditional methods regardless of their usefulness in changing environments?

The purpose of this intensive five week course is to answer these questions by empowering executive leaders in the Bahamas public service with the tools they need to begin the transformation of business as usual. Additionally, the course will serve a data collection function for a PhD Research Project focusing on Executive Leadership Development. Through this course, executive leaders will be equipped with cutting edge information on the dynamics and components of leadership development. Emphasis will be placed on the interconnectedness of leadership theory and leadership styles. In this investigative discourse, through the use of a series of live lectures and open discussions, participants will share their lived experiences with leader development opportunities or the lack thereof within PSOB.
